'Seldom Seen' Boutique Now Open On OctaviaPhotos: Nuala Sawyer/Hoodline

After a quick 24-day renovation, a new boutique called Seldom Seen opened its doors on Octavia Street over the weekend, bringing together a carefully-curated selection of wares produced by small companies. The former home of Lustre Salon, which closed last month, has been transformed into an airy retail space featuring men's and women's clothing and accessories.

Seldom Seen owners Daniel Lee and Natasha Wong are no strangers to running a fashion retail business—Lee used to be a partner in a boutique on Gough Street, and Wong used to work at Lululemon. "Natasha and I are both San Francisco natives (a rare breed nowadays)," said Lee. "We wanted to have our first store here in the city. Hayes Valley is the perfect location, with other like-minded businesses and customers who shop here."

The shop showcases an international selection, from Copehagen-based Won Hundred to British clothing company Chinti and Parker. Also on offer are casual jackets from French brand Maison Kitsuné, and Stutterheim raincoats from Sweden.

Clothes aside, Seldom Seen also offers a wide variety of both casual and dress shoes, home accessories such as candles, and locally-made jewelry.

The store is still getting its finishing touches, but is fully stocked and open for business. Shop hours are every day from 11am to 7pm.
