![[UPDATED] After Moving Truck Theft, Sunset Family's Belongings Surface In Daly City Storage Unit](https://img.hoodline.com/uploads/story/image/18304/Storage_Unit.jpg?max-h=442&w=760&fit=crop&crop=faces,center)
The family that lost all of their personal property when their Budget moving truck was stolen will soon be getting their belongings back. In a twist, nearly everything they owned was found in a storage unit in Daly City.
Jeremy Biane, one of the victims of the theft, credits the recovery to good police work. According to him, two suspects were picked up by the Napa police department for auto theft. When the suspects’ car was searched, a welcome package for a storage space was found.
Detective Peter Piersig of the Napa police found the family's belongings when he looked at the storage space. He contacted the SFPD, and because of the police report and the publicity that has occurred since the theft, the two police departments were able to make the connection to the Biane and Coe family.
“It all came together,” says Biane with obvious relief.
The journey has taken the family all over the Bay Area, with the truck found earlier in Pacifica. Earlier today, Biane and his family, along with Detective Ed Del Carlo of SFPD, went over to the storage unit to identify what was theirs. “90 percent of our stuff was there. The only things missing were big-ticket electronic items—things like the TV, sound system, and computer monitors.”
Even the remainder of their furniture was found in the storage unit.
Best of all, Biane and his family will recover baby Austin’s baby book and sentimental items from Biane’s deceased mother.
The family hasn’t yet been reunited with their belongings just yet. Next Tuesday, there will be an “official transfer” between the storage company and the SFPD.
In the meantime, a brand new lock has been put on the storage unit.
Despite the wait, Biane is grateful to the police and the public that has been so generous to his family with their offers of help.
“I'm just grateful to have our stuff back,” said Biane. “I already feel less stressed. It's been only two and a half weeks, and these have been the longest weeks of my life. Now we have closure and what we need.”
[UPDATE] Commenters have asked about what what will happen to funds from online fundraisers for the family. In a comment below, Biane writes:
"Hi, Jeremy from the story here. Thanks everyone for your support.
Just to clarify, we have not accepted donations from any online fundraisers. Other than a gofundme page created by immediate friends, my family and I are unaware of any such crowd-fundraisers. If you know of one, would you please post the link? I hate to say it, but it may be illegitimate.
Thanks again, everyone. We're happy to be part of the great community here."
