The Rug Company has confirmed it will open a store this fall in the recently re-opened Genoa Building at 728-730 Montgomery St. in Jackson Square. Though an official date hasn't been set, it'll likely be sometime in October.

The Rug Company specializes in handmade designer rugs, created from hand-processed wool of sheep raised in Tibet and knotted in Nepal. The concept marries traditional products and craftsmanship with Western designers—the big names behind the rug designs include David Rockwell, Diane von Furstenberg, Paul Smith and Vivienne Westwood.

The Rug Company will join several other high-end retail boutiques that have moved into Jackson Square lately, including Isabel Marant, Shinola, JAKE and A.P.C. The brand is based in the United Kingdom and has three showrooms in London and 20 worldwide, including one at HEWN in SoMa's San Francisco Design Center. That location mainly serves the trade, while the forthcoming location will cater to retail clients.
