For all you dendrologists out there, we've got word that a tree fell inside the San Francisco Botanical Garden this past Sunday afternoon, as witnessed by tipster Damien S.

"The tree fell Sunday afternoon around 2:20pm, was a Photinia bodinieria var. bodinieria, and this is one of many of this species throughout the Garden," confirmed a representative of the Garden. "Its exact age is unknown, but we’d estimate at being around 50 years. The tree did not cause any injuries to guests, staff or volunteers, but did do some damage to surrounding plants in the Garden, however we expect the plants that were damaged to regrow, and allowing us an opportunity to improve this part of the Garden."

Uh, oh. A tree just split and fell as we were looking. Drought issue.
