The fate of the Castro's now-notorious Naked Trump statue remains up in the air, but if all goes well, it could go on display at Union Square pub Lefty O'Doul's by the weekend—complete with an appearance from the artist who created it.

According to the Chronicle, the fate of the statue, entitled "The Emperor Has No Balls," is now in the hands of City Attorney Dennis Herrera, who would have to broker an agreement for the vandalism fines related to the statue to be paid. However, a representative for the City Attorney's office told us that they plan to allow SFPD to make the call on whether or not the statue can be released.

"I've spoken with the City Attorney, and we're giving the decision-making power to SFPD," he said. "A naked Donald Trump statue isn't even the 10,000th priority on our list."

SFPD had previously stated that anyone who showed up to collect the statue would be charged with vandalism. It's unclear how much of a fine that will entail, but Lefty's owner Nick Bovis is prepared to pay it if charges are dropped.

If the statue can be released, Bovis is hoping to host artist Joshua “Ginger” Monroe, who created it and four other identical statues in Los Angeles, Seattle, Cleveland and New York City for a collective called INDECLINE, for a public unveiling at Lefty O'Doul's this weekend.

Returning the nude Trump statue to public view remains controversial. As we've reported over the past few days, some feel that the statue is offensive to fat and transgender people, and should not be placed back on display. A trans activist, Shane Brodie, protested the statue by appearing naked in the Castro, with a sign declaring "I Love My Fat Body."

However, District 8 Supervisor Scott Wiener, who has been supporting the statue's move to Lefty O'Doul's, reiterated to the Chron that he "interpret[s] the statue—as do many people—as exposing (literally and figuratively) Donald Trump as the fraud he is."
