'The Riddler' Plans January Debut In Hayes Valley [Updated]Photo: Teresa Hammerl/Hoodline

After months of remodeling, champagne bar The Riddler is planning its public grand opening at 528 Laguna St. on New Year's Eve in early January.

In July, we reported that Jen Pelka, who also runs the restaurant PR firm Magnumpurchased the space from long-time tenant Momi Toby's Revolution Cafe. With a base of 32 female investors, the new bar will offer more than 100 varieties of champagne—as well as Miller High Life, the "Champagne of Beers."

Pelka hinted on Instagram that the bar would open before the new year starts. And now she tells the New York Times that it's official: The Riddler will debut to the public on December 31st. Update, 12:20pm: Pelka tells Hoodline that The Riddler will officially debut to the public during the first or second week of January. The bar's New Year's Eve party will be a private affair.

"I'm thrilled to be opening something in Hayes Valley, the neighborhood that I live in," Pelka told us this summer. Her husband, Charles Bililies, owns the restaurant Souvla (which will close its Hayes Valley location for roughly two weeks in January for a renovation).

In addition to sipping bubbly, guests of The Riddler can snack on caviar, cheese, charcuterie and more, the New York Times reports.
