SoMa Crime Recap: 'Wet Floor' Sign Assault, Woman Maced By Muggers, Carjacking, MorePhoto: figgenhoffer/Flickr

Here is another edition of your local crime blotter, recapping some of the criminal activity that has taken place over the past three weeks in SoMa (since our last recap). Information is taken from SFPD reports unless otherwise noted.

Woman Maced, Robbed

A 31-year-old woman was robbed and maced near 9th and Mission streets on April 20 at approximately 6:00pm. The victim was walking on Mission when the first suspect, a man in his early twenties, grabbed the victim’s phone and fled on foot.

The victim proceeded to chase the suspect when a woman, also in her early twenties, maced the victim. Both suspects got into an unknown vehicle and fled the scene. The victim was hospitalized for her injuries. No arrests have been made.

Man Robbed While Riding Bike On Harrison St.

A 28-year-old man was robbed while riding his bike on 11th Street near Harrison Street on April 18 at 9:00pm when a similarly aged male suspect kicked his bike. Although he was able to stay on the bike, the suspect struck him and stole his bag. No arrest has been made, and the victim sustained minor injuries.

Late-Night Stabbing Near 6th & Minna

On April 18 at 12:15am, a 49-year-old man was injured and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening wounds after a 35-year-old man stabbed him near 6th and Minna.

The suspect was reported to have been yelling at the victim incoherently and then began striking him with an umbrella. The victim was blocking the attack when the suspect produced a knife and stabbed him. No arrests have been made.

Two Employees Strike Man With “Wet Floor” Sign

At 11:45pm on April 16 on the 100 block of Valencia Street, a male suspect in his forties and a 35-year-old female suspect, both employees of a business, assaulted a 24-year-old man with a “Wet Floor” sign.

The suspects and the victim got in a verbal altercation inside the business before the first suspect followed the victim outside and struck him. The second suspect picked up the sign and used to hit the victim, who fled in a vehicle and was later hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. No arrests were made.

Two Robbers Nab Phone On 4th Street

Near 4th and Bryant streets, two men between the ages of 14-18 allegedly robbed a 28-year-old woman on April 14 around 4:00pm. The first suspect ran up to the victim and grabbed her cellphone from her hands and ran. The victim then chased the first suspect when the second suspect tripped her, causing her to fall and lose track of the suspects. No arrest was made in the incident.

Howard Street Carjacking Foiled By Police

On April 10 at 2:00am near Howard Street and 9th Street, a 18-year-old male suspect approached a 37-year-old man's vehicle and asked him if he was in a gang.

The suspect showed the man his tattoos and proclaimed a gang affiliation before walking to the driver's side, punching the victim in the face and jumping on the hood of his car. The victim then exited the car and chased the suspect, who entered the vehicle and drove away. Police were able to track the victim's phone, locate the suspect and make an arrest.

SoMa Knifepoint Mugging

At 2:00am on April 8 at 2nd Street and Natoma Street, a 25-year-old man was robbed by a 40-year-old male suspect wielding a knife. The victim was approached from behind by the suspect, who held a knife to his back. The suspect demanded the victim's money, who complied before the suspect fled. No arrest was made in the incident.

Armed Assault And Robbery

On April 7th at 6:28am, a 28-year-old male suspect robbed and injured a 45-year-old man on 6th and Natoma Streets. The suspect approached the victim, started a conversation before producing a gun and striking him. The suspect then grabbed the victim's cellphone and fled on foot. No arrests have been made; the victim sustained injuries that required hospitalization.
