Here's an overview of notable incidents reported around the Castro since our last crime roundup.

All reports come from the SFPD's daily crime recaps, unless otherwise noted.

Shots fired between two vehicles

Early in the morning on November 20th at 12:58am, witnesses saw suspects in two vehicles exchange gunfire near Church and 17th streets before fleeing the scene.

Casings were recovered, but no suspects were identified or arrested.

Woman mugged while walking near Duboce Triangle

At 9:49pm on November 19th, a 31-year-old woman was walking home when she was approached by two female suspects, both 18-30, near Church and 15th.

The two suspects pulled her to the ground and stole her purse, wallet, credit cards, keys, and money before fleeing on foot. No arrest was made and the victim had non-life threatening injuries.

Argument escalates to violent robbery

Later on the 19th at 11:30pm, a 29-year-old man got into an argument with two other men, both 26, near Market and Noe.

The two younger men then punched the victim and stole his cell phone before running away. The victim received non-life threatening injuries and no arrests were made.

Police officer, suspect shoot each other in Castro on Halloween

At 12:03am on November 1st, officers assigned to Castro for Halloween were flagged down by a citizen to inspect a suspicious vehicle on Diamond between 18th and Market.

When they responded, gunfire was exchanged, and the officer and suspect wounded each other. The officer, a 9-year SFPD veteran, was wounded in the stomach and wrist, while the suspect received life-threatening injuries.

Armed carjacking minutes after officer-involved shooting

Minutes later and a block away, an armed carjacking occurred at 12:10am near Diamond and Market when two women and a man in his twenties, hailed a car for a ride.

Once inside, the male suspect brandished a gun and then ordered the 54-year-old male driver out of the vehicle. The three suspects drove off, and the car was later recovered on Oakwood between 18th and 19th streets in the Mission.

The SFPD has not stated any connection between this incident and the shooting at this time.

Wine thief burgles bottles from garage

Between 9pm on October 22nd and 1am on October 23rd, an unknown suspect entered the attached garage of a residence near Diamond and 21st. The prowler stole a case of wine, and the 80-year-old male resident never saw or heard the suspect. No arrest was made.
