On Sunday, a collaboration between the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) and California Highway Patrol (CHP) resulted in the capture of a suspect accused of throwing bombs. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Daniel Garcia, was apprehended after a chase that began at Filbert Street in San Francisco and ended in Martinez, CA. The chase came about following Garcia's attack on a person with a knife, according to a report from the SFPD.

Garcia, during the chase, reportedly used two improvised explosive devices against pursuing law enforcement officers. As a result, charges of attempted murder and assault have been added to his alleged crimes. The apprehension occurred without any major injuries to either officers or bystanders despite the extreme circumstances.

Garcia currently faces a slew of charges including attempted robbery, aggravated assault, three counts of attempted murder, assault on an officer, reckless evasion, and several weapons-related charges. The ongoing investigation seeks to determine Garcia's motivations for his actions.
