Stanford University will conduct its annual campus emergency alert system test on Thursday, October 12 at 12:05 p.m. This exercise will involve the activation of seven sirens located around campus, both broadcasting an audible tone and a verbal message. This annual procedure aims to ensure public safety on campus and in the neighboring Palo Alto community.

The echo of the sirens during the test may be audible across the campus and in parts of Palo Alto, as highlighted by the Palo Alto Police Department. The annual October test may, however, remain unheard by residents who have previously not been in reach of the siren sound. Importantly, there is no need to report the siren sound to the police, as this is a scheduled protocol.

In case of confusion caused by the test, community members are advised to share information about the event with their neighbors.
