On October 24, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) routine traffic stop escalated to a high-speed chase, leading to a major arrest involving unregistered firearms and drugs. The events transpired during the Safe Streets operation when officials intercepted a Toyota Corolla for a registration violation, per CHP Oakland.

Initially, the suspects cooperated with the officers. However, they quickly began to try to elude officers, initiating a high-speed chase. The Oakland Police Department deployed its helicopter to keep the suspects within sight, assisting officers successfully.

The chase came to a head on the 8500 block of Edes Avenue. The first suspect attempted to quickly flee on foot but was apprehended instantly. Subsequently, the passenger, then at the wheel, was stopped using a spike strip and pursuit immobilization technique. The second suspect was then taken into custody without further incident.

Officers discovered an unregistered firearm, approximately $2,000 in cash, and an assortment of illegal drugs inside the vehicle in the subsequent investigation. The suspects were booked into Santa Rita Jail on charges including evasion, weapon possession, drug sales, and possession.
