John Bellhouse, a former correctional officer at the Federal Correctional Institute Dublin, has been slapped with a 63-month prison stint for his abhorrent behavior involving the sexual abuse of two female inmates, the FBI San Francisco branch confirmed in a recent update. This development emerged as the eighth such conviction against an FCI Dublin officer for related offenses, underscoring a disturbing pattern within the institution.

Back in June, a trial laid bare the depths of Bellhouse's depravity, revealing he abused his position as a safety manager to repeatedly assault women from December 2019 to December 2020, using spaces like the prison Safety Warehouse and Safety Office as his sordid playground, Hoodline reported. One victim laid out in harrowing detail how Bellhouse forced her into oral sex and groped her repeatedly. The jury found him guilty of five counts of sexual abuse.

According to FBI San Francisco's announcement, Bellhouse has been sentenced to 63 months in prison for the sexual abuse of two female inmates. Notably, Bellhouse was among six officers charged, and his conviction brings the tally of convicted officers in these crimes up to five.

In the words of Kara Janssen, an attorney representing some of the assaulted women, "This verdict is one step toward justice, but sexual assault and harassment continue at FCI Dublin. Bellhouse is just one of many, and this will continue to happen until BOP can address the rampant misconduct in its ranks," as recounted by Hoodline.

Reinforcing this drive for accountability, Deputy Attorney General Lisa O. Monaco issued a stark warning that the DOJ remains unyielding in its commitment to eradicating sexual abuse within the BOP's jurisdiction. Simultaneously, Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz underscored the commitment to ongoing investigations and relentless justice for the victims of these heinous crimes, with both affirming that power should never serve as a cloak for predation.
