Cox and the department's Command Staff visited the 911/Operations Division to acknowledge the contributions of the force's first points of contact during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
Typically the unsung heroes, the 911 dispatchers were celebrated with a special token of appreciation from ILSSA Boston. The International Lodging Safety & Security Association's Boston chapter made sure that whether by day or pouring night, the dedicated men and women of the Operation Division wouldn't miss a meal by providing special meals for all three shifts, reported a statement from the Boston Police Department.
"The often unheard voices that stand as our city's first line of defense in times of crisis, today get the acknowledgment they righteously deserve," said Commissioner Cox. The BPD's gesture extends beyond a nod of recognition, for these men and women indeed anchor the lifeline of the city's security apparatus.
