Long Beach Police Arrest 16-Year-Old Suspected Shooter in Downtown IncidentSource: Google Street View

The streets of Downtown Long Beach were the backdrop for a violent altercation that left a 16-year-old male nursing a gunshot wound, following a shooting which occurred last month.

Detectives from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) have since made headway in the case, arresting a 16-year-old suspect believed to be responsible for the March 16th incident. The officers responded to a call at approximately 6:26 pm near East 1st Street and The Promenade, where they found the teenage victim. He was promptly aided at the scene and transported to a local hospital with injuries deemed not to be life-threatening, as reported by the LBPD.

Since the event, LBPD detectives have tirelessly pieced together the puzzle, examining leads and gathering evidence. Utilizing the latest in crime-fighting technology, they successfully pinpointed the alleged perpetrator, obtaining an arrest warrant for the teen, who resides in Los Angeles.

The LBPD made their move on April 16, arresting the suspected shooter, also a 16-year-old, within the city limits of Los Angeles and further securing evidence related to the downtown shooting. The alleged firearm involved had already been in the custody of the Los Angeles Police Department prior to the adolescent's arrest. In their commitment to justice and community safety, the LBPD is calling on anyone with additional information regarding this case to reach out to the LBPD Gangs Detail or submit a tip anonymously through "LA Crime Stoppers," as detailed by the LBPD announcement.
