Taqueria Local is a fast-casual Mexican spot headed by chef Giovanni Orellana, from the owners of popular nightclubs Echostage, Soundcheck and Decades, the Washington Post reports.

Diners should expect to find artisanal tacos with classic meats like carnitas and barbarcoa, as well as innovative offerings like the Griego with roasted pork, tzatziki, feta and mint. Additional options include make-your-own salads, burritos and rice bowls. (Check out the full menu here.)

Yelp users are still warming up to Taqueria Local, which currently holds 3.5 stars out of 20 reviews on the site.

Yelper Maria B., who reviewed Taqueria Local on April 4, wrote, "Probably one of the best taco spots in D.C. It's hard to find a good tasting horchata and authentic Mexican tacos in this city. I tried the pastor and carne asada tacos and [they] didn't disappoint."

Taqueria Local is open from 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)

Bandit Taco is a new Mexican spot serving standards like carnitas, shrimp and al pastor tacos as well as novel offerings like Korean beef tacos and wild mushroom quesadilla. Located at 1946 New Hampshire Ave. NW in the U Street Corridor, it recently ranked highly in a listing of the best new taco places at Washington City Paper, which instructed, "Don’t dare miss the crispy shrimp taco piled high with red cabbage and a cream sauce."

Bandit Taco holds a $2 Taco Tuesdays special on selected tacos, according to their Facebook page.

Yelp users are excited about Bandit Taco, which currently holds 4.5 stars out of 50 reviews on the site.

Yelper Camsie M., who reviewed Bandit Taco on April 2, wrote, "The tiny street style corn tortillas were soft and flavorful and the taco was almost generous enough to make two servings."

Melissa C. noted, "Really good yucca fries. Veggie quesadilla seemed really large. Fish taco was pretty good, but had a little too much sauce and cabbage. I think 2 tacos and yucca fries would be a good meal here."

And Yelper Austin G. wrote, "The tacos come on two smallish corn tortillas with a generous portion of whatever filling you order. The street corn is corn on the cob with white sauce that I'm pretty sure is straight up mayo (just how I like it.)"

Bandit Taco is open from 11:30 a.m.–10 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 11:30 a.m.–1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11:30 a.m.–9 p.m. on Sunday.

Mayahuel (not to be confused with the recently closed tequila bar of the same name) is another new Mexican spot, opened by co-owners Jawad Saadaoui and Miguel Pizarroso. Located on 2609 24th St. NW in Woodley Park, it features tacos, ceviche and cocktails by Fabian Malone of Lucky Buns, Eater reports.

Diners should expect to find appetizers like braised lamb nachos, fried plantains and grilled corn, along with entrees like tacos de lengua with habanero-mango salsa. (You can check out the full menu here.)

Mayahuel currently holds four stars out of 24 reviews on Yelp, indicating good reviews.

Yelper Madhu R., who reviewed Mayahuel on March 26, wrote, "Awesome food and great vibe. Finally a nice, classy restaurant in Woodley Park. The branzino was amazing and good for 2 people to share, along with an appetizer or smaller dish."

Alex S. noted, "[The tacos] were all delicious and vibrant tasting, but my favorites were the brisket and the beef tongue. Both are moist and juicy, and one of them has this super unique mango salsa that is just dynamite. My friend got the nachos and they looked amazing. Both were pretty large portions. I think it was worth the money."

Mayahuel is open from 5 p.m.–10 p.m. daily.
