Fairfax's Eerkin's Uyghur Cuisine & Tea Bar has opened a new branch in D.C., at 2412 Wisconsin Ave. NW in Glover Park.

Uyghurs are a Turkic and predominately Muslim ethnic group centered in the Xinjiang region of China. Noodles and dumplings are commonplace on the menu, including in soups like the chuchura dumpling soup with minced lamb and onions. There are also numerous kebabs, as well as stir-fried dishes like noodles with chopped lamb and vegetables.

The tea in the restaurant's name is a blend of black and green tea with saffron, cardamom and red rose with homemade spices.

Eerkin's Uyghur Cuisine & Tea Bar is off to a promising start, with a five-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp.

Don B., who reviewed the new spot on July 23, wrote, "Homemade, hand-pulled noodles with chicken and vegetables was excellent, service was friendly and helpful. Didn't look too closely, but there is also a breakfast menu that was still available around noontime."

Yelper Clare S. added, “Ordered delivery from them and was very impressed. The noodle dish was tasty. I got it with the chicken. It had a good flavor with just the right amount of spice, and it was a huge portion, plenty to split or have leftovers.”

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Eerkin's Uyghur Cuisine & Tea Bar is open from 8 a.m.–10 p.m. on Sunday-Thursday, 8 a.m.–11 p.m. on weekends.
