In search of a new favorite Italian spot?

Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the best affordable Italian restaurants around San Antonio, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to meet your needs.

1. Capo's Pizza

Topping the list is Capo's Pizza. Located at 8522 Broadway, Suite 105, the Italian spot, which offers pizza and sandwiches, is the highest rated low-priced Italian restaurant in San Antonio, boasting 4.5 stars out of 370 reviews on Yelp.

On the menu, you'll find specialty pizzas like the Clemenza with pepperoni, Italian sausage, meatballs and Calabrese salami or the Corleone with basil, Italian sausage, onions, garlic and Romano cheese. It also serves sub sandwiches, calzones, stromboli and wings.

Sarah B. said, "Best pizza around! We eat this most Friday nights for a treat! Great homemade pizza crust, thin and bubbly, with good quality ingredients and friendly service. We usually order a Large one topping for under $10!"

2. Zito's Delicatessen & Sandwich Shop

Zito's Delicatessen & Sandwich Shop, located at 8800 Broadway St., Suite 108, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the cheap deli and Italian spot, which offers sandwiches and more, 4.5 stars out of 122 reviews.

The Italian Deli has sandwiches like the Serious with salami, ham, provolone, cheddar, black olives, onions, tomatoes and lettuce; the Italian with salami, capicolla, prosciutto, ham, provolone, lettuce, tomato and Italian dressing; and the Pastrami with pastrami, provolone, mustard, lettuce and tomato. Bryan M. wrote, "The ultimate sandwich shop. A mom and pop family  joint that's been around forever. I've been going to this place since I was a teen. It's been a staple in the area for years. I recommend the Serious sandwich, though you will need a serious appetite to eat it."

3. Main Street Pizza & Pasta

Main Street Pizza & Pasta, an Italian spot that offers pizza, salads and more in Tobin Hill, is another inexpensive go-to, with four stars out of 185 Yelp reviews. Head over to 1906 N. Main Ave. to see for yourself.

The menu offers pizzas, like the Main St. Combo with pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, black olives, green peppers, Canadian bacon and tomatoes. It also offers pasta dishes such as the lasagna served with tossed salad and focaccia bread. Or grab a submarine sandwich like the Main St. Cold Cuts with ham, salami, turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo and Italian dressing. (See the menu here.)

4. Miss Ellie's Pizza

Check out Miss Ellie's Pizza, which has earned four stars out of 172 reviews on Yelp. Dig in at the Italian spot, which offers pizza and chicken wings, by heading over to 903 E. Bitters Road, Suite 301.

The New York-style pizzeria offers pizza by the slice or pie, including specialties like the All Meat with pepperoni, sausage, meatballs and ham; the Vegetarian with spinach, sliced tomato, onion, green peppers, black olives and mushrooms; and the Miss Ellie's with pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, onion, olives, mushrooms and peppers. Jodi S., who reviewed it on September 22, wrote, "This is by far my favorite pizza place in San Antonio. The thin crisp crust combined with their amazing sauce makes my mouth water just thinking about it! The garlic knots are buttery and soft. The owner is always there and the same two guys have worked there forever. Great guys making delicious food. You must go get a slice."

5. Goomba's Pizzeria

And then there's Goomba's Pizzeria, a Vance Jackson favorite with four stars out of 142 reviews. Stop by 9825 IH 10 West to hit up the Italian spot, which offers pizza and sandwiches, next time you're looking to satisfy your cravings on a budget.

On the menu, you'll find options like the baked ziti with Italian sausage with penne pasta, ricotta and marinara sauce; the Italian submarine sandwich with ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone, lettuce, tomatoes and onions; and the Goomba's Supreme pizza with pepperoni, sausage, onions, mushrooms, bell peppers and black olives.

Yelper Crystal S. wrote, "This is my favorite pizza place in San Antonio. I love the meat pizza, the spinach rolls and I've tried the pasta carbonara. I didn't like the Alfredo as much. I think for the price it's worth every penny, and their two slices lunch special is awesome! The slices are huge!"
