1. Nailah's Kitchen

Topping the list is Senegalese and halal spot Nailah's Kitchen. Located at 5722 York Road, it's the highest rated business in the neighborhood, boasting 4.5 stars out of 198 reviews on Yelp. 

The restaurant's menu features West African cuisine made with locally sourced  ingredients. Some specialty items include thiebou yape, which is lamb with rice and stewed vegetables, and poulet pané, made with fried chicken legs that have been marinated, battered and stuffed with garlic, ginger and parsley. 

2. Clark Burger

Next up is poutinerie and burger joint Clark Burger, situated at 5906 York Road near the historic Senator Theatre. With four stars out of 220 reviews on Yelp, it's proven to be a local favorite. The eatery has another location in Fells Point.

The burger place offers Canadian-inspired food that consists of burgers, poutine and fries. Order burgers like the The Wake N Bacon, made with fried egg, smoked bacon, cheddar, caramelized onions and Sriracha mayo. For an extra indulgence, add a side of Frère Jacques, which are fries topped with smoked bacon, a fried egg and roasted garlic chipotle aioli.

3. Toss

Toss, a spot to score pizza and more, is another top choice. Yelpers give the business, located at 5716 York Road, four stars out of 153 reviews. 

Choose from a list of pizzas, calzones, pastas and more. Go vegetarian with the roasted eggplant pizza, which has a garlic herb sauce, mozzarella cheese, eggplant, roasted red peppers, Kalamata olives and feta cheese. There are also traditional pizzas like the Margarita with a light tomato sauce and herbed olive oil, fresh mozzarella, basil and tomatoes.

4. Sofi's Crepes

Sofi's Crepes is another neighborhood go-to, with four stars out of 72 Yelp reviews. Head to the creperie at 5911 York Road to try it for yourself. 

Sofi's Crepes has six locations in Maryland, offering both savory and sweet crêpes. Expect varied options such as the The Godfather crêpe with pepperoni, mozzarella, salami, roasted red peppers and spinach. For a sweet bite, try the s'mores crêpe, stuffed with chocolate, melted marshmallows and graham cracker crumbs.

5. Kohinoor Restaurant

Finally, check out Kohinoor Restaurant, which has earned four stars out of 60 reviews on Yelp. You can find the Indian, Asian fusion and Himalayan/Nepalese spot at 5926 York Road.

It offers a wide array of fare featuring seafood, chicken, vegetables and more. Look for dishes like the chicken chili momo (deep-fried dumplings cooked with vegetables) and the alooko achar, made of potatoes and green peas mixed with sesame seeds and Himalayan spices.
