Craving New American food?

Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the best high-end New American restaurants around Milwaukee, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to venture next time you're on the hunt.

1. Sanford Restaurant

Topping the list is Sanford Restaurant. Located at 1547 N. Jackson St. in Lower East Side, the New American spot is the highest rated high-end New American restaurant in Milwaukee, boasting 4.5 stars out of 186 reviews on Yelp. 

The menu features items like molasses-glazed squab with cold cured foie gras, grilled mango, toasted coconut and pineapple granita; waterzooi soup with seared carrot and snap pea; and Asian barbecue strip loin beef with kimchi salad and chili lime noodles. (Take a look at the full menu here.)

2. Ardent

Next up is Lower East Side's Ardent, situated at 1751 N. Farwell Ave. With 4.5 stars out of 153 reviews on Yelp, the New American spot has proven to be a local favorite. 

The restaurant offers a sample tasting menu that features snacks like barbecue leek tea and beer cheese pretzels alongside beef tartare, cod and sunflower porridge, which comes with truffled goat cheese, whey and cep oil. 

3. Bacchus

Juneau Town's Bacchus, located at 925 E. Wells St., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the fancy steakhouse and New American spot 4.5 stars out of 136 reviews.

Located in the Cudahy Tower, Bacchus features both regular and vegetarian menus, which include seasonal ingredients and an extensive wine list. Appetizers include lobster risotto and crispy tofu. For dinner, the spot serves up dishes like its Parmesan-crusted polenta cake and goat cheese ravioli.
