Jackie Kashian 

Join comedian Jackie Kashian at The Underground Collaborative this Thursday. Kashian is known for her appearances on Comedy Central and Conan, and has toured with both Maria Bamford and Brian Regan. Both her podcast, "The Dork Forest," and her best-selling album, "I Am Not the Hero of This Story," have gained her fans across the country.

Mark Twain's River of Song

Directed by Randal Myler and Stackner Cabaret, this performance explores the music, stories and culture of the Mississippi River and its human counterparts, all while incorporating the insights of traveler and novelist Mark Twain.

The music will be performed by three world-class musicians and will include traditional tunes like "Dance Boatmen Dance," "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child" and "Deep River Blues."

The Chinese Lady

American drama "The Chinese Lady" portrays the true life of Afong Moy, the first female Chinese immigrant to the United States, who was put on display as a sideshow known as "The Chinese Lady," following her arrival.

The play unearths historical paradigms that influenced both Moy and the world around her and touches on how the perspective of oneself and others can be both cultivated and challenged.

When: Wednesday, February 13, 7:30 p.m.

Junk

Also playing at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater is "Junk" from Pulitzer Prize-winner Ayad Akhtar. The play explores the combat-like world of finance in the 1980s, in which competition, conflict and greed ran rampant.
