Las Palmas Dominicanas brings Caribbean eats to BaysidePhoto: Joey N./Yelp

A new Dominican spot has debuted in the neighborhood. Called Las Palmas Dominicanas, the new arrival is located at 201-09 Northern Blvd. in Bayside.

The restaurant offers authentic Dominican and Latin dishes, from breakfast through dinner. Expect a wide range of grilled, fried and baked chicken, pork, beef and seafood dishes, including personal plates, family combos, sandwiches and salads. There's also house specials, like mofongo — a Puerto Rican dish made with deep-friend plantains and served with a select protein — and solomillo — sirloin steak served with shrimp.

Las Palmas Dominicanas has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 10 reviews on Yelp.

Joey N., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Feb. 19, wrote, "This place has great Dominican food. My favorites are the chicken mofongo, chicken soup and beef stew. The customer service is good, and the pricing is fair. I would recommend this place."

Yelper Amy M. added, “I tried the chicken crackling with green plantains and a cuban sandwich. The chicken and tostones were fried perfectly. Chicken was very crispy on the outside and nice and juicy on the inside. The Cuban sandwich was good, not great. Also, they have lunch specials, which are a good bargain. I will be back to try some more items on the menu.”

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Las Palmas Dominicanas is open from 8 a.m.–9 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m.–10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)
