The number of crime incidents in Yorba Linda saw an overall increase last week, after a previous decline, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents rose to 204 for the week of Feb. 18, up from 180 the week before.

The specific offenses that increased the most were assault and robbery. Assault rose to eight incidents last week, from three the week before. Robbery went from five to nine.

While somewhat smaller categories, there was also a sizable percentage increase in vandalism, from zero incidents per week to two, and in theft, from 17 to 19 incidents.

There were 71 reported burglary incidents last week. That represents an increase from 68 incidents the previous week.

There were 95 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of nine from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. Of those incidents, two involved arrests, such as for drug possession, up from zero reported arrest the week before.

Regarding when crime most often occurs, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Tuesdays witnessed the most reported crimes. The largest increase from the previous week occurred on Wednesdays, Tuesdays and Mondays, while incidents on Sundays and Saturdays went down. Comparing times of day, late afternoon, late morning and evening continue to see the most crime incidents.
