Kuhio Grille is a Hawaiian spot, offering barbecue and burgers, located at 3036 Waialae Ave., Diamond Head-Kapahulu-St. Louis.
This new business serves traditional Hawaiian dishes like teriyaki pork, kalua pig and loco bowls — a medley of white rice, hamburger patties, eggs and gravy. Side orders include french fries, tossed greens and potato macaroni salad.
Kuhio Grille's current Yelp rating of 3.5 stars out of 16 reviews indicates the newcomer is finding its way, but it's still early days.
Yelper Lynne I. wrote, "All the dishes we had — from fried rice, chicken katsu, yakitori chicken, chicken cutlet and teriyaki beef — were very tasty and flavorful."
And Ryan O. noted, "A super friendly family-owned-and-operated restaurant. They sit with you, talk and just hear [about] your day."
Kuhio Grille is open from 10 a.m.–9 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. (It's closed on Wednesday.)
Hamada General Store
Hamada General Store is a traditional American spot, offering salads, coffee and tea, located at 885 Queen St., Ala Moana-Kakaako.
According to the website, the restaurant was originally a grocery store that served customers from 1958 until 2007.
On the menu, you'll find plates like the braised beef "loco moco" with two eggs over easy and potato mac salad, as well as taco rice — a medley of taco meat, shredded cheese, tomato, olives, sour cream, eggs over easy and corn chips.
Hamada General Store currently holds five stars out of 12 reviews on Yelp, indicating good reviews.
Yelper Mari N. wrote, "Amazing. There's something for everyone. I decided on the Wafu hamburger steak. It was very well seasoned and was topped with fried onions, among other things."
Hamada General Store is open from 7 a.m.–2 p.m. on Monday-Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)

With a three-star Yelp rating out of seven reviews on Yelp, Leony's Filipino Restaurant is still finding its way, but it's early days.
Yelper Lori T., who was one of the first users to visit Leony's Filipino Restaurant on July 22, wrote, "Delicious food. Great service. The restaurant was clean. We ate the squid guisado, lechon kawali and pancit bihon. It was so good."
Manu P. noted, "This place is a hit or miss. I've had great tasting food to subpar food. When the owner cooks the food, it's yummy. When the staff cooks the food (depending on the cook) it can be not bad to really bland."
