Air Force: Fighter jet accidentally fires rocket near Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Air Force officials are investigating after an A-10C Thunderbolt II fighter jet on a training mission accidentally fired a rocket near Tucson. Officials at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base say the M-156 rocket landed Thursday morning in a remote desert wash near Mount Graham.

Tucson complex residents face eviction for targeting mosque

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - An apartment complex near the University of Arizona campus intends to evict residents who threw glass bottles and alcohol at a neighboring mosque. The Arizona Daily Star reported Thursday that GMH Capital Partners, which owns Sol y Luna apartments, plans to file eviction proceedings after seeing "sufficient evidence."

Tucson police sergeant killed in ultralight crash in Benson

BENSON, Ariz. (AP) - A Tucson Police Department sergeant was killed when his ultralight crashed in Cochise County. Benson Police Chief Paul Moncada said 59-year-old Timothy Froebe was off-duty when the crash occurred Wednesday near the Benson Municipal Airport and that witnesses reported hearing indications of possible mechanical trouble. The crash is being investigated by the Benson Police Department.
