DUI Driver Crashes into Parked Car in PetalumaSource: Petaluma Police Department

Earlier today, residents on the 900 block of S McDowell Blvd in Petaluma were awoken by the sound of a vehicle colliding with an unoccupied car in a driveway. According to a police report, it was 3:52 a.m. when a silver BMW veered off the road, crashing into a parked car while attempting to turn left onto eastbound Covey Way.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, further on-site investigation by the Petaluma Police Department revealed that the driver responsible for the collision was 21-year-old Daniel Niles Jr. of Petaluma. The young man and his female passenger were found to be unharmed.

Officers on the scene noted that Niles Jr. exhibited objective signs of intoxication, prompting them to initiate a DUI investigation. The results of this investigation ultimately led to the determination that Niles Jr had been driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Niles Jr. was promptly arrested and transported to the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility where he was booked into custody.
