Crosby Community Bands Together as Volunteer Firefighters Help School Replace Storm-Damaged FlagsSource: Crosby Independent School District Website

Crosby Volunteer Fire Department joined forces with a local school to mend what nature had unraveled. Crosby ISD acknowledged the volunteer fire brigade for their contribution in hoisting new flags at Drew Elementary School, reports FOX 26 Houston. The assistance came after Monday's storm battered the original flags, prompting a restoration effort led in part by a grandfather to one of the students, who doubles as the Assistant Chief of the fire department.

On Tuesday, the grandparent in question utilized the fire department's 114-foot ladder truck to aid Crosby ISD's maintenance workers in renewing the American and Texas flags, which had sustained damage during the squall that left them frayed and entwined around their pole, according to Crosby ISD in a recent release. Assistant Chief Mr. Russell White scaled the heights of the ladder truck to free the worn ensigns, honoring not only his granddaughter, a pupil at the school but also manifesting a deeper sense of community duty and pride.

Following the fire crew's aerial operations, Crosby ISD maintenance teams were at the ready, installing the new banners to once again flutter above the school. "Crosby ISD appreciates the Crosby Volunteer Fire Department for taking the time to ensure the American and Texas flags are flying high and undamaged above Drew Elementary School today. Small gestures are magnified into community pride when our community members work together to beautify our schools." expressed the school district.

Crosby ISD's Operations Manager, Mr. Chuck Murray, had the new flags at the ready and lauded the combined efforts of everyone involved, as we appreciate the support of our communities and community partners, he chronicled.
