In what reads like a script taken from a cop drama, a Texas police officer found himself on the wrong side of the law after attempting to solicit sex from an undercover officer. Mandella Mosley, 32, a member of the La Marque Police Department, was charged with solicitation of prostitution following the botched transaction.

Details of the incident emerged when Mosley allegedly offered $60 for oral sex, only to discover that his would-be commercial partner was, in fact, an undercover officer from the Houston Police Department’s Vice Division. According to FOX San Antonio, Mosley is now on administrative leave, meanwhile, no clear evidence has surfaced as to whether he was on duty or out of uniform at the time of the offense.

The officer was arrested Thursday afternoon and has subsequently bonded out of jail, as reported by Local 12. La Marque police have yet to release further details on Mosley’s status within the department or the circumstances leading up to his arrest.

The case leaves a blemish on the department’s record and raises questions about the vetting and conduct of law enforcement officers. Prosecutors have not commented on whether Mosley was, in uniform when the solicitation took place.
