Beginning March 21, 2024, the Orange County Clerk-Recorder's office launched the interactive feature on their website, promising instant customer support for common questions. CRBot is designed to tackle queries concerning services such as obtaining birth certificates or prepping for marriage appointments.

"CRBot will be a convenient tool for customers who need information about our services and want quick responses without waiting on the phone," Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen announced, hoping to ease the hustle of those with busy schedules by providing them with timely information. Lost in the convenience of digital communication, the chatbot's purpose is to reduce the inundation of calls to the department's info line, paving the way hopefully for fewer wait times.

Available 24/7, the chatbot can be accessed by visiting OCRecorder.com and clicking the chat bubble icon on the screen's lower right corner. Customers are invited to simply type their questions into the window and await swift responses. CRBot's reach extends to on-the-move individuals, being compatible with mobile devices too.

While CRBot can handle most questions, it knows its limits. Complex inquiries might require human touch, directing users to a live chat agent during office hours. The department's information line, at (714) 834-2500, still stands ready for those who prefer a more traditional method of inquiry, available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except on holidays.
