A new player is set to join the retail game at Midland Mall. Ross Dress for Less, a national discount clothing chain, has announced plans to open a 32,000-square-foot store at the shopping center located at 6800 Eastman Ave., promising to bolster the mall's roster with its wide-ranging apparel offerings. The announcement was highlighted in recent posts by ABC12.

Expectations are high for this well-known retailer. Mall owner Jordan Dice, who acquired the Midland Mall with a vision to revitalize the shopping haven, expressed his enthusiasm about Ross’s upcoming arrival, "I have received numerous requests for more clothing stores at the mall, Ross will be a great option as a fairly large clothing retailer," Dice said, according to a statement obtained by Midland Daily News. The store is positioned to meet customer demand and it is anticipated to open its doors to eager shoppers in late summer or early fall of 2024.

With multiple recent openings including a Yogurt Loft and a Mitten Cafe, the addition of a Ross Dress for Less is just the latest in a series of wins for the Midland Mall, which seeks to diversify its commercial appeal and enhance the shopping experience. Besides bringing fresh retail options to the area, the mall has been actively engaging the community with events like a Comic Con and an Antiques Affair slated for April. This strategy appears to be a concerted effort to drive foot traffic and revitalize the longstanding shopping destination.

Ross Dress for Less is not new to the Michigan market, with this Midland establishment set to become its thirteenth store in the state. Found in almost 2,000 locations nationwide, the discount retailer offers a problematic variety of merchandise ranging from clothing for the entire family to beauty products and home goods, enticing shoppers with promises of significant savings. According to Ross's marketing, customers can expect to find "Ladies, men, kids, home, beauty, shoes, toys, pets, luggage and much more" lining the shelves, as reported by Midland Daily News.

The build-out momentum continues as the recent zoning board meeting saw Midland’s zoning authorities approving a variance for larger signage for the store on March 19, a sign that the preparations for Ross's arrival are well underway. Ross Dress for Less aims not only to fill the vacant retail space but to also offer thrifty Midlanders a new hub for discount shopping, adding to the economic vibrancy of the area.
