A teenage boy was left dead and another injured following a double shooting in East Germantown, Philadelphia, law enforcement officials reported. The violence unfolded Wednesday evening, when a 16-year-old boy suffered a fatal gunshot to the back at the intersection of Germantown Avenue and Wister Street, as informed by the police.

Officers who were near the scene at around 6:37 p.m. responded to the sound of gunshots, arriving to discover both victims. The 16-year-old was found on E. Wister Street and was declared dead at a local hospital by 6:47 p.m., NBC Philadelphia reported. In a nearby location, the second victim, a 17-year-old boy, was also found with a gunshot wound to the back, police said he's now in stable condition.

Chief Inspector Scott Small revealed that the altercation was captured on video, showing a group of teens exchanging gunfire on the street. The shooters, along with another individual, fled the scene shortly after the incident. The source of the chaos was indicated by no less than seven shell casings, from two separate firearms, found scattered on E. Wister Street as reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer.

An unintended bystander, a 55-year-old man, found himself in the crossfire while driving down Wister Street. Small said, "He's extremely lucky that he was not struck in the arm or, struck in the torso," after a stray bullet pierced his shirt sleeve, but left him unharmed. This close call was detailed by FOX 29 News. As of now, police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the shooting.
