Eyewitness reports given to the abc13 indicated the pickup truck was a Dodge, and its driver had been weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed before he swerved to pass a car, setting off the fatal sequence of events the drivers of the pickup truck and the Chevy Malibu were declared dead at the scene, while the driver of the Nissan suffered less severe injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Police were present to interview witnesses, who offered crucial first-hand accounts of the tragedy, and detailed prompt efforts by a male bystander who tried desperately to aid the victim in the Chevy Malibu after the accident. "One male that stayed on scene, he was actively trying to help the victim who was in the Chevy Malibu. He was trying to get him out. We believe that he was alive at that time, but they were unable to save his life," Sgt. Dallas recounted to abc13.
