A Dallas neighborhood was shaken by an act of violence over the weekend when a 34-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of murder. Garland Police alerted Dallas authorities to the incident at the 1300 block of W. Wheatland Road, which they said happened roughly 24 hours before their call to 9-1-1 on April 15, at about 1:15 am, according to the Dallas Police Department.

Police discovered the suspect, identified as Omar Lucio, refusing initially to exit the premises. Caught at 3:00 am, upon finally leaving the apartment, Lucio was apprehended and officers found a woman unresponsive inside. Tragically, despite the response from Dallas Fire Rescue, the woman's life was lost at the scene.

Facing murder charges, Lucio now awaits further legal proceedings in Dallas County Jail. The identity of the victim remains pending, awaiting confirmation from the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office.
