Flames engulfed an apartment in the Briar Forest area yesterday, with crews rushing to confront a kitchen blaze. At approximately 12:34 p.m. on April 25, Houston firefighters were dispatched to 2310 Crescent Park Dr., where an unoccupied unit had caught fire. According to an official statement, a faulty electrical outlet was to blame for the incident that fortunately did not result in any injuries.

The rapid response of the fire department allowed to quickly extinguish the small fire, which originated from an electrical outlet and caused damage primarily to the apartment's stove and oven. Reports confirm that the quick-thinking firefighters managed to save an estimated $980,000 worth of property. Despite the potential for disaster, damage was limited to $20,000.

Scenes at Crescent Park Drive revealed the remnants of a tense situation as 32 first responders from Stations 78, 83, 57, 75, 76, 69, and 86 filled the area. Smoke damage was evident throughout the unit. Details about the cause of the fire were scarce at first, but it was later confirmed to have been due to an equipment malfunction.
