A disturbing family dispute erupted in Simi Valley this week, with a young man accused of turning on his own flesh and blood, law enforcement reported that 20-year-old Kaden Gonzaga allegedly committed a strong arm robbery against his 85-year-old grandfather, as reported by the Simi Valley Police Department.

The altercation occurred within the residence on the 1700 block of First St, leading to swift action by local police, after responding to the incident which took place on Wednesday, officers found Gonzaga in the home refusing orders to emerge, the young man entrenched himself against law enforcement's pleas, igniting a tense standoff, according to the Simi Valley Police Department.

By Thursday, the situation escalated. An arrest warrant charged Gonzaga with robbery and elder abuse. Authorities descended upon the residence once more. Attempts at a peaceful resolution were met with defiance as Gonzaga rebuffed calls to exit, barricading himself inside, forced entry became the only recourse as verbal commands fell on deaf ears - Gonzaga threatened violence against those tasked to bring him in.

In the ensuing confrontation, standard methods to subdue proved futile; not even two rubber baton rounds could quell the resistance, setting the stage for a canine deployment which eventually tipped the scales, this development prompted Gonzaga to relent, thus he was apprehended, both he and the involved officers emerged with no major harm, though the suspect sustained minor injuries.

After receiving medical attention, Gonzaga faced the consequences of his alleged actions, being booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for robbery, elder abuse, and obstructing a peace officer - a series of charges that paint a grim portrait of familial betrayal.
