Dust Off Your Dance Shoes, Ready for Free Summer 'Dancing 'til Dusk' Series in Seattle ParksSource: Seattle Parks and Recreation

Get ready to dust off those dancing shoes because the Dancing 'til Dusk 2024 summer series is about to take the city by storm, and it's all free. Yes, you heard that right, free! In partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, the summer staple is back for its 17th year, promising spirited nights swaying under the stars to a variety of beats. Whether you fancy tango or swing, salsa or blues, the lineup has you covered, as reported by Parkways Seattle.

This year’s event will kick off in July with every evening starting with a one-hour dance lesson that requires no prior experience – perfect for beginners or those just looking to brush up on their moves. The best part, they're welcoming to all, whether you bring a partner or fly solo. According to Parkways Seattle, "The first hour is a beginning dance lesson, no experience needed! We rotate partners, but if you prefer not to, bring a partner to the lesson."

Freeway Park, Hing Hay Park, and Friends of Waterfront Seattle are just a few of the hotspots where revelers can dive into diverse genres. Cal Anderson Park, Westlake Park, and Ballard Commons will also join in on the summer fun spanning through August. Not to mention, a special fundraiser event at the Golden Gardens Bathhouse, a night that'll not only get your groove on but also support a good cause – with a suggested $25 donation.

Highlights include English Country Dance with Laura Mé Smith, The Hot Tango Four pumping out tango rhythms, and Swingin' In the Rain with Dina Blade, because come rain or shine, the dance must go on. And for those who fancy themselves a dance-off, DJ battles are scattered throughout the schedule. One notable evening at Westlake Park on August 20, features the WCS DJ Battle with Za, Thomas & Rebecca that’s bound to be a crowd-pleaser.

The sacred tradition of dancing in public spaces is more than just a fun night out – it's a chance to meet your fellow Seattlers and connect through the universal language of music and movement. So mark those calendars, grab a pair of comfortable shoes, and join the city in a summer-long celebration of dance. As the parks of Seattle transform into vibrant dance floors, this is one summer experience you don't want to miss.
