Memphis Man Charged with Child Sexually Abusive Activity After Social Media Sting in Macomb CountySource: Facebook/Macomb County Sheriff's Office

A Macomb County man has been put behind bars after allegedly sending graphic messages to a decoy posing as an 11-year-old girl, reported WWJ. Derrick Glenn, 35, of Memphis was arrested after a social media group managed to quickly ensnare him within the span of their digital trap. The collective, known as "Big Country's Predator Exposure," is operated by an individual named Sean "Big Country" Meadows who, according to authorities, was the one to initially make contact with Glenn.

The interaction, which began on social media and continued via text message, took a dark turn as Meadows, masquerading as the young girl, received inappropriate images and messages from Glenn, as Macomb Daily described. The Macomb County Sheriff's Office and Memphis Police Department were then alerted and swung into action to formally arrest Glenn at his apartment on Henderson Street.

Glenn now faces a series of charges, including one count of child sexually abusive activity, one count of accosting a child for immoral purposes, one count of indecent exposure, two felony counts of using a computer to commit a crime, and one count of misdemeanor using a computer to commit a crime. The most serious of these charges could result in up to 20 years in prison. Following his arraignment in the 42-1 District Court in Romeo, bond was set at $50,000, reported CBS Detroit.

Moreover, the case has highlighted the perils and complexities when civilians decide to take on the role of law enforcement. Despite their successful intervention, authorities reiterate the danger of civilians trying to personally catch child predators and strongly advise against such actions. Additionally, equipment including a USB flash drive and a cell phone were seized from the scene as reported evidence in the case. "Big Country's Predator Exposure" has since posted a video to Facebook showing the confrontation with Glenn outside his apartment.
