Chaos erupted on the 110 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles early Thursday morning when a man reportedly started hurling rocks onto the road, leading to flat tires and a motorcycle crash. The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. near 23rd Street, where the motorcyclist hit one of the rocks and was thrown from his bike, NBC Los Angeles reported. The rider, who managed to walk back to his motorcycle and eventually rode away from the scene, appeared to escape serious injury.

According to a CBS Los Angeles report, at least two other vehicles were also affected; they were left stranded on the side of the freeway in need of assistance due to flat tires, while one eyewitness captured a video of the seemingly unhoused individual throwing the rocks before walking away in an eastbound direction on 23rd St. from Figueroa St., without any immediate confrontation by law enforcement.

Furthermore, some drivers managed to avoid the motorcyclist on the freeway after the crash; others stopped to render aid, verifying the danger and disruption caused by the incident. In a video provided by OnSceneTV and described by KTLA, the man can be seen crouching behind a barrier before throwing several rocks onto the roadway for reasons yet to be determined.

The California Highway Patrol, which later conducted a traffic break to clear the debris, has not released additional information, but drivers reported the freeway cleared before the morning rush emerged, in the meantime, authorities have not disclosed any actions taken to locate or identify the man responsible for the turmoil, as of yet. Those with information on the incident are likely to be urged to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
