Arlington Announces Independence Day Service Schedules, Trash Pickup Shifted, Recreational Facilities OpenSource: City of Arlington, Texas

As the rockets' red glare prepares to illuminate Arlington skies, residents can expect a temporary disruption in their usual service routines this Independence Day. Mark your calendars and take note of a few critical schedule changes. According to an announcement from the City of Arlington, Texas, all municipal offices and facilities will be closed on July 4. However, not every facility will be taking a full day off.

For those who believe trash collection is immune to holidays, think again. Both residential and commercial trash and recycling services will pause this Fourth of July. If your collection day falls on Thursday or Friday, prepare for a shift, as services will be delayed by one day. "Residents whose regularly scheduled garbage and recycling collection day falls on July 4 or July 5 will have their curbside collection shifted by one day because of the holiday", the City of Arlington, Texas stated. Therefore, Thursday’s refuse will be collected on Friday, and Friday's collections will be moved to Saturday, July 6. Regular garbage and recycling services will resume on Monday for residential areas, while businesses will see collections starting July 5.

Not all facilities are closing for the holiday, however. Arlington’s recreational spots remain open for the community. If you’re planning a round of golf, you can book an early tee time, with golf courses offering their last slots at 11 a.m. Aquatic centers and splash pads will also be open, albeit with varied hours.

Several venues will be closed for the holiday. City Hall, the Municipal Court, and all public libraries will be closed, as will the Arlington Animal Services Center and several other government offices. Handitran services, the Arlington Housing Authority, and the Parks and Recreation Department Administrative Office will also be taking the day off.
