With the suspect now facing charges of Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, his surrender to the Tarrant County Jail marks a somber progression in a story that began as a violent encounter on a quiet neighborhood street.

The tragedy unfolded when officers were called to the scene at the 400 block of Claire Court on Monday evening, after receiving reports of gunfire and arriving to discover two victims with gunshot wounds, Galarza and an unnamed 20-year-old man, the former succumbing to his injuries two days following, as detailed by the City of Arlington, Texas.

During the investigation, detectives pieced together the likelihood that a prearranged meeting skewed deadly when what was believed to be a drug deal turned into a shooting, with the surviving victim sustaining non-life-threatening injuries, while Galarza was pronounced dead at the hospital.
