The city of Austin is confronted once more with the stark reminder of its ongoing battle against gun violence after a shooting in Southeast Austin claimed two lives and left one injured. According to CBS Austin, the incident occurred overnight near the Trio Apartments located at 2317 South Pleasant Valley Road.

Reports of gunfire, which thrust responding officers to quickly try to locate the victims, began filtering in just before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. On their arrival, APD found three individuals with gunshot wounds. In an unfortunate turn of events, one victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while another succumbed to injuries at the hospital. The third victim is reportedly receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, as mentioned by KVUE.

The homicide detectives spearheading the investigation have yet to place anyone into custody, as per CBS Austin. APD has issued a call to action for the public, urging anyone with information pertinent to the case to contact the APD Homicide Unit Tip Line.
