The National Weather Service Fort Worth TX has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Dallas and surrounding North Central Texas areas effective from noon to 7 PM CDT today. The weather service forecasts "dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 109 expected", as per the National Weather Service.

In addition to high temperatures, the aforementioned heat advisory warns locals to expect heat index values as high as 111 degrees. Residents are urged to "drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors." Elderly citizens, children, and pets are highly vulnerable during such extreme conditions, as per the National Weather Service.

The weather outlook for the upcoming days doesn't promise much relief as the oppressive heat is set to persist. Forecasts by the National Weather Service indicate that heat index values are expected to stay between 105 and 112 degrees each day into next week. The National Weather Service advises taking extra precautions when outside, recommending "lightweight and loose fitting clothing" as well as limiting outdoor activities to the early morning or evening.

Despite the scorching heat, the Hazardous Weather Outlook by the National Weather Service does not forecast a break in the heat wave, instead indicating a continuation of similar conditions. To cope, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends "scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments." For those overcome by heat, they should be moved to a cool and shaded location immediately as "Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1." Furthermore, although low chances, there is also a mention of possible thunderstorms near the Red River come Sunday.
