In the early hours of Saturday morning, Grand Rapids was rattled by a shooting that left one man dead and another injured. As reported by WZZM13, the Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) dispatched officers to Ardmore Street SE and Thelma Avenue SE after receiving reports of gunshot sounds at approximately 12:20 a.m.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered evidence suggesting the discharge of a firearm, yet the victims were absent from the scene. Shortly thereafter, a man arrived at a local hospital, wounded by gunfire, but his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening. Under the pall of the night, the streets, supposed to be peaceful, turned into a backdrop for violence that soon claimed a life.

The situation escalated around 3 a.m. when a second man reached the hospital with a severe gunshot wound to his chest. His injuries, tragic in their finality, were not survivable, and the man succumbed, as confirmed by a statement obtained by FOX17. The investigation into this incident is currently spearheaded by the Major Case Team at the GRPD.
