Cannon Township Launches Summer Bingo for Kids with Free Ice Cream RewardsSource: Facebook/Cannon Township Office

The township has unveiled a "Youth, Summer Lingo, Bingo" program aimed at getting kids outside and exploring what their community has to offer. Starting today, youths eager for summer fun and frozen delights can take part in this creative initiative, which offers a simple yet enticing reward: free ice cream.

The bingo card, available for kids 18 and younger, encourages participants to engage with various activities around Cannon Township, from supporting local businesses to enjoying their scenic parks. According to WZZM 13, Cy Balk, a Cannon Township Board of Trustees member, told the news outlet, “We decided to do it just to get kids involved in the township and it’s something to do during the summer months just to enjoy Cannon Township and all the beauty it has. Cannon Township is very proud of the parks that we have here, one of which is our trail system, and we also have pickleball courts. That’s two different squares to play a game of pickleball with your family or ride the trail or walk the trail.” One calls on kids to assist a turtle in its road crossing, reminding them to be mindful of snapping turtles.

Those adventurous enough to secure five boxes in a row on their bingo card can head over to Cannon Township Fire Department on Belding Road, where they will receive a voucher. The voucher is redeemable for a free small cone from the Cowlicks Ice Cream Shoppe in Rockford, highlighted by mix957gr.

"Come And Explore This West Michigan Town And You’ll Get Free Ice Cream" reads the enticing headline from mix957gr. Bingo cards can be printed off from the township's website or found in the upcoming Cannon Township tax bill, slated for delivery on Friday, June 28, which seems to offer both an incentive not usually found nestled among the figures of municipal dues and a way to herald the onset of peak summer fun and community engagement.

Apart from the ice cream voucher, participants will also receive a sticker, adding to the tangible mementos of their summertime quests. As announced on cannontwp.org, "Cannon Township's "Youth, Summer Lingo, Bingo" encourages children to explore local parks and trails by completing fun and educational activities on bingo cards, which can be downloaded here or found in summer tax bills."
