Postal workers in Greensboro and Charlotte experienced harrowing moments as they were robbed at gunpoint during their delivery routes, according to law enforcement officials. Four individuals have been charged in connection to the armed robberies that targeted United States Postal Service (USPS) employees. The robberies occurred on Monday, prompting a swift response from authorities after the suspect vehicle, identified as a blue Nissan Rogue, was located the following day.

A USDPS employee first reported the crime at approximately 10 a.m. on June 17 near Glenwood Avenue and Haywood Street while in the process of mail delivery. Police say this was the second robbery of an USPS employee in Greensboro that morning. Following the incident, the suspects reportedly proceeded to Charlotte where they continued their crime spree, targeting additional postal workers. The suspect vehicle was later stopped on Randleman Road after its description had been circulated among local law enforcement agencies.

In a pursuit that ensued, one of the suspects, 18-year-old Jason Harrington, "accidentally shot himself below the waist," authorities reported. He was subsequently taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The chaos of the chase left no injuries among the USPS workers, but has fuelled concerns around the safety of postal service employees.

Taijawan Cross, 19, along with Shaun Clark, 21, and Deonte Overby, 20, were arrested following the incident. All four suspects, including Harrington, face two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of felony conspiracy for the armed robberies committed in Greensboro. Cross, during his first court appearance, was ordered to have an ankle monitor and a curfew. Additional charges for a Charlotte robberies are pending, as the investigation continues to unfold in the wake of the recent events. The suspects are presently held at the Guilford County Jail.
