Residents and officials in Grand Prairie are gearing up for a festive Fourth of July holiday, with the City of Grand Prairie administrative offices set to close on July 4, in observance of Independence Day. As reported by the City of Grand Prairie, Texas, residents should prepare for shifts in service hours across various facilities.

For those taking care of errands before the holiday, be aware that garbage collection services will be impacted, as the Landfill will be closed on July 4, with garbage collection resuming the following day. However, recycling pickup will stick with its usual schedule on July 3. Do note that while the Water bill payment offices will not be operating, online services remain always available to manage those obligations.

Other closures include all libraries, which will, nevertheless, offer book drops for after-hours returns, and the Lake Parks Book Locker is accessible 24/7. The Charley Taylor, Tony Shotwell, and Dalworth Recreation Centers, The Summit, and the Epic Recreation Center will also take a day off. For those interested in outdoor activities, Lynn Creek Park and Loyd Park will open their doors with normal operating hours and holiday pricing in place.

Amidst the closures, not every recreational option is taking a break. Golf enthusiasts can hit the links at both Prairie Lakes Golf Course and Tangle Ridge Golf Club, which are operating on a normal schedule with holiday pricing. Those looking to make a splash can do so at McFalls and Tyre Pools, and Splash Factory Water Playground from 1 p.m.- 6 p.m. Furthermore, the Epic Waters Indoor/Outdoor Water Park will be welcoming guests from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. for a refreshing holiday experience.

In an attempt to accommodate every resident's needs, Grand Prairie has provided a sanctuary from the revelry with a "Quiet Zone" at the Main Library. This space is designed to serve individuals and families seeking respite from the clamorous fireworks, and it will be operational from 8-11:30 p.m. on both July 3 and July 4. Please note that all children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult when utilizing the Quiet Zone.
