The Houston community is mourning the loss of a three-year-old girl after a tragic accident on Cowart Street. The incident, which took place around 8:35 p.m. on Tuesday, left Reginae Richardson dead after being ejected from a vehicle that failed to maintain a single lane and impacted a wooden utility pole before rolling over, as City of Houston News reported.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer J. Johnson, as mentioned in the same report, detailed that the driver of the white Kia Soul involved was heading southbound and upon losing control, struck the pole on the northbound side causing the car to roll and land on its passenger side, following that, a child was ejected from the front passenger window while two other passengers, including another female child, managed to escape from the vehicle without serious injuries.

The report indicates that the three females were promptly attended to and transported to an area hospital, it was there where the youngest passenger was pronounced deceased. The other two females were treated for their injuries and subsequently released. Notably, officers found no signs of driver intoxication, however, they noted the absence of child seats in the car, which may have influenced the severity of the incident.
