Chaos ensued on the roads of Houston yesterday afternoon when a collision between two cars developed into a larger crash involving a METRORail train. According to Houston Chronicle, the initial accident occurred along Old Spanish Trail and Greenbriar just after 3 p.m. The vehicles ended up in the path of the oncoming METRORail Red Line train and two additional vehicles, bringing the total to four involved parties.

The impact of the event was felt swiftly as six individuals were taken to the hospital. In a statement by METRO spokesperson Doug Delony obtained by the Houston Chronicle, there were no life-threatening injuries reported. Service along the Red Line was disrupted but was back up and running after about an hour and a half. Still, it was the sort of afternoon that unravels the veneer of routine, exposing the fragile nature of our comings and goings.

Investigators were on the scene to determine the cause of the original collision, which remains unclear. In a developing report by KIAH, at least two cars were involved in a collision at the intersection which led to the subsequent chaos.
