Lake Jackson, Texas, is poised to be the center of attention for fans of Selena Quintanilla this weekend. Andrew Longoria, a local man with an affinity for the late Queen of Tejano Music, is attempting to set a Guinness World Record for the largest collection of Selena memorabilia. According to KENS5, the staggering trove includes approximately 1,300 items, from rare dolls to perfumes to boutique pieces, and will be on display at the Lake Jackson Historical Association tomorrow, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The special exhibition, comes free of charge, reflects a deeply personal journey for Longoria, who began the collection as a homage to his grandmother, a dedicated Elvis Presley collector. Lindsay Scovil, executive director of the Lake Jackson Historical Association, shared her excitement about the event, stating, "This event is not only a tribute to Selena’s contributions to music and culture but also a celebration of the vibrant community that continues to cherish her memory."

Longoria's connection to Selena goes beyond collecting; he grew up near the Selena Museum in Corpus Christi and has been a fan since childhood. In a 2023 interview, “I was 5 years old when I got the [Dreaming of You] album," Longoria told KETK. "So to know how long I’ve been a fan and been collecting — it’s pretty phenomenal, to be perfectly honest."

For those unable to attend the event in person, Longoria’s collection can be viewed on his Instagram page. The Lake Jackson Historical Museum, located at 249 Circle Way, will also provide food trucks, and kid-friendly activities, contributing to a family-oriented experience that celebrates the enduring impact of Selena Quintanilla on her fans and the wider music scene. Selena, a native of Lake Jackson, would have celebrated her 53rd birthday this year. Despite her tragic death in 1995, her influence continues to reverberate through her music and dedicated fan base.
