In a recent report released by the Long Beach Police Department, officers successfully recovered an unserialized firearm following a routine traffic stop turned foot chase. On the evening of June 17, an individual was detained in the 1400 block of E Anaheim Street after they attempted to evade police.

According to the LBPD official blotter, the suspect discarded a firearm in an alley before being apprehended by the police. The time of the incident was approximately 6:02 p.m.

During the pursuit, the discarded piece was quickly identified as an unserialized gun, which often points to a possible connection with underground channels of distribution. It is not yet clear why the suspect fled or how they came into possession of a firearm, as per the LBPD.
