A behavioral therapist from Los Altos was arrested after being accused of sexually abusing a girl under ten, who was described as "severely handicapped and non-verbal," during a therapy session. Mitchell Takata, 21, faces multiple charges including lewd acts upon a child under the age of 14, and attempted sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child under the age of 10, according to KTLA. Takata is currently being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center, with bail set at $1 million. When Riverside Police officers arrived at the home where the alleged abuse occurred, they found Takata still present.

Riverside Police responded to the incident in the Ramona neighborhood late last May. The Riverside County District Attorney's Office has since filed charges against Takata, as reported by ABC7. Authorities have not released further details about the specifics of the alleged sexual abuse.

Given Takata's employment background, working with severely disabled children over the last three years, police are concerned that there may be more victims who have not yet come forward. The Riverside Police Department's Sexual Assault - Child Abuse Unit has taken up the investigation, with Detective Daniel Suarez leading the charge.
